On March 5, 2017, our team at The Vaping Brotherhood decided to visit the 2017 Manila VapeCon held at the World Trace Center in Pasay City, Philippines. We arrived at the venue around 30 minutes before the event’s opening, and boy were we greeted with a ton of people waiting to buy their tickets on the venue. Luckily, we didn’t purchase tickets online so we had the time to show off our cool shirt design for A320 Vape Lounge. An hour waiting on the line seems to be justifiable, since this is said to be one of Asia’s biggest events this year.
Fast forward into the event, what we noticed was that there seems to be a lot of booth spaces that were vacant. Although there is quite a wave of familiar faces in the Filipino vaping industry, the venue seemed a bit too big for the number of exhibitors. Still good though, there was a LOT of space that you can sit virtually everywhere, whenever your feet feel like they need a break.
The statements released by the RBREEZY Babes before the end of their performance stirred controversy and people began wondering who’s that girl they were aiming their tirades to. Although people have mixed reactions about The RBREEZY Babes performing at vaping events, it does look like they’ll be hanging out with the community for some time.
Of course, Parokya ni Edgar’s nostalgic performance of their 90’s to early 2000’s hits took the cake. Even if people had to wait an astonishing 2 hours waiting for that sound check (we did, and we timed it), Parokya’s performance didn’t disappoint the event’s audience.
We have left the event after Parokya ni Edgar’s performance, and we weren’t able to watch succeeding activities since we felt like getting beers after that nostalgic rock trip to memory lane.
Although there were some hiccups, we think that the VapeCon 2017 was a success, but it could have been even better if there were more local e-liquid brewers and vape modders who exhibited their work at the event.
