Smoant may be new in the industry, but they have entered the industry so fast that they are now one of the recognized names in the industry. They did quite some heavy marketing, being in almost every trade show in Asia recently.
Their latest device, the Battlestar 200w is a dual-battery regulated mod that seemingly attempts to compete with the bigger names in the industry. The question is, can it? Let’s find out.
Borrowing the design from the infamous RX 2/3, so the design isn’t actually new. It has almost the same dimensions and utilizes the same magnetic battery door system. It’s another pocket-friendly mod that doesn’t feel too heavy and has a rounded edge design compared to its closest counterpart.
One of the best parts of the Battlestar is the spring-loaded connector, which fits any atomizer without gaps. The venting holes isn’t only a good design addition, but a cooling system that reduces operating temperature while you vape.
The OLED screen is pretty basic, but has a really bright backlight. You can still see the screen on broad daylight, which is something that most mods today lack. Everything on your screen is intuitive, it shows the battery levels, the mode you are one, and everything else that you need to know.
There are no issues with charging on-board too. The micro USB port allows balanced charging as well as a pass-through mode that allows you to vape while charging.
Temperature control modes aren’t exactly new for regulated mods, so what we can say is just that this mod is on par with everything else.
We’ve told you how it looks like and the features on the manual, so we better tell you the performance.
Smoant is relatively new in the industry but they surely know what business they went into. Stress tests reveal that chain vaping for 30 minutes would greatly heat up your atomizer and the batteries, but those vent holes indeed come in handy. It didn’t heat the batteries up to a point that it feels like a handheld time bomb. Props for that.
It chucks out clouds pretty well, which is what you would expect on a regulated mod with a series battery configuration. It performs just as good as how it was designed. Smoant did their homework and came up with something that is aesthetically beautiful and performing very well.
Apart from the vent holes, the SMOANT battlestar is just another mod that looks like an RX 2/3. We would say that this is the better choice though, those small design differences make it the better contender.
Also, it comes in 14 colors. Other mods usually come in 2-3, so you have better color options if you are getting tired of silver, black, and copper mods.
